1. Take over Mitsubishi for peanuts
2. Take all your last-gen car making stuff and give it to Mitsubishi
3. Make new grill badges to replace the Nissan logo with a Mitsubishi logo
4. Sell your old cars as Mitsubishis - they will be 10 years younger than what Mitsubishi offers now, you’ll be able to sell your old shit to people which can’t afford better
5. Profit $$$$$$$

Yup- as soon as the new GT-R is out, send the old stuff to Mitsubishi and make a new Evo out of it. That way, people can still buy “good enough”, for less money than brand new Nissan products. Kind of like Nissan selling the old Rogue next to the new Rogue, or VW selling “Classic” Golfs and Jettas (in Canada) or Chevy selling old Impalas to fleets when new ones are available too.

I was kind of thinking Honda should buy Mitsubishi. They’re both engine manufacturers (With the exception that Mitsubishi was into heavy machinery at the end of the industrial revolution) but during WWII, Mitsu developed radial engines for the Japanese kamikaze planes. Frankly, they would have been a match made in heaven.
They could do what Ferrari did with Maserati, and give them a supercar platform. Like Maserati got the Enzo platform, Mitsubishi could get the NSX platform. Resurrect the 3000GT and turn it into a supercar. Something to give them brand recognition before going back into pedestrian cars.

It wouldn’t have been a bad idea, as Nissan already has Datsun for low end models in developing countries. Honda could have done the same with Mitsu.

They already make Datsuns, just in developing markets, and they are really cheap. I interest of saving money, leave everything as Mitsubishi - people know that’s where you go to buy a car when you can’t afford a car, and dealers will be happy not spending cash on new signage.

No, not really. Lexus is a luxury division of Toyota, but Toyota doesn’t get last years Lexus models as their new cars.
More like Nissan selling the old Rogue next to the new Rogue, or VW selling “Classic” Golfs and Jettas (in Canada) or Chevy selling old Impalas to fleets when new ones are available too - just take all of their old cars and sell them as Mitsubishis.

Sure, re-use old, well-known names. Eclipse was always FWD or AWD and the 350Z is RWD, but that doesn’t matter.

I like the actual plan better - Nissan gets footing in the S. Asian market, Mitsy gets cash. Some platform sharing in the near future, and hopefully Mitsy gets access to Nissan’s US marketing team.
